Our music program has long been recognized for its superior quality. The Chancel Choir, which is composed of adults, sings on Sundays during worship and rehearses following the service. Our choir members not only create beautiful music, but also enjoy the fellowship and spiritual benefits that singing in a choir provides. All are welcome to join. For more information, contact David Lornson, Director of Music.

Adult Education

Our adult education program provides opportunities for spiritual and intellectual growth outside of worship. Sessions take place in the lower level of the sanctuary following the Sunday service. Recent topics have included church architecture, Congregational history, race relations and life crises. Child care is provided during adult education.

Lenten Series

During the spring, First Congregational Church hosts a weekly series of Lenten dinners. These evening programs include the sharing of a meal and a study/discussion led by our minister. Childcare is provided.

Suppers for Eight

Any person interested in greater fellowship with other church members is welcome to sign up for Suppers for Eight. These are groups of eight people, randomly assigned, who meet four times per year to share a meal and get to know each other better. This program is sponsored by the Church Life Team.

Family Ministries

The church sponsors activities throughout the year that are geared to members of all ages. Typical events include movie nights, stories by the hearth, Halloween pumpkin carving, Christmas wreath making and Easter egg dyeing. All church members and friends - young and old - are welcome to attend.

Social Events

Each year, we look forward to social events that provide us with the opportunity for fun and fellowship. Annual highlights include the Christmas Potluck, New Members Dinner, Church Picnic and Rally Day - the official beginning of the church school year.

Women's Group

First Congregational church periodically provides special programs for women, including guest speakers, recreational outings and Bible study groups.

Bible Study

Bible study groups are held throughout the year on weekdays for interested members and friends.

Book Group

This ongoing group meets monthly in the Church House. The Sunday bulletin provides information on the book to be discussed and the date and time of the meeting. All are welcome to attend.

Study Trips

Periodically First Congregational Church sponsors travel-study opportunities. Recent mission trips have included journeys to Mexico, Nicaragua and Appalachia. In addition, groups from the church have recently traveled to Scotland, Austria and the Czech Republic.
