ANNOUNCEMENTS

You are welcomed and seated today by Barb Ferguson, Lacey Ogbolumani, Nick Tucker, Cherie Weil and Sandy Whiteley.

The lay reader this morning is Paul Janicki.

Thank you to Joan and Tom Lindsey for hosting today’s coffee hour.

The chancel flowers are given to God’s glory, in honor of those incumbent Officers and team leaders of the church who are beginning new adventures today, either by retiring from their responsibilities or by beginning new ones.  Thank you, all!

This morning's anthem was composed by Boris Ord (born Bernhard Ord) who was organist and choirmaster of King's College, Cambridge between 1929 and 1957. He was born at Clifton, Bristol on 9 July 1897 and died at Cambridge in 1961. His setting of "Adam lay ybounden", which is his only published piece of music, was once a fixture in the order of service of the annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at King's. A  distinguished choir master, he was described by Sir David Willcocks as the man who taught him everything he knows about training a choir.

Robinson Recital on February 24.  Please join us at 3:00 pm in the Guild Room of the Church House as welcome pianist Ian Hominick back to play a wonderful recital of music including works by Kreisler, Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt. Suggested donation for this recital is $10 and a reception will follow his program.

The next meeting of the Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group meets today at 4:00 pm in the Cora Brown Parlor.  Cherie Weil will lead the discussion of the book entitled:  Three Cups of Tea, One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace…One School at a Time by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin.  Everyone is invited and welcome to attend this informal discussion.

Childcare – At the present time we do not have a caregiver for the nursery and are seeking candidates.  Please see Deb Shamlin or Laima Day if you have a candidate or have questions.  Until we hire a caregiver, and so we can offer nursery care, those interested in volunteering for a Sunday, please see Deb or Laima.  Nursery hours are from 9:30 until 11:30 for infants and toddlers up to the age of 2.

Interfaith Action Vision Keeper Benefit Dinner will be held on Sunday, February 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Hotel Orrington.  This fund raising event for Interfaith Action (formerly EEAC) is also an occasion for the Houses of Worship in Evanston to recognize and honor a Vision Keeper from among their membership.  Our Church Council has voted to designate Hal Sprague as our Vision Keeper for 2008.  We hope you will help us fill out a table for ten so that we may show our appreciation for all that Hal does in the life of this church.  The guest speaker for this event is Muhammed Saiduzzaman, of the Dar-Us-Sunnah Mosque and Community Center of Evanston.  The cost is $65.00 ($35 of each dinner reservation is tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law).  Please call the church office with your reservation (by February 15) or place a check in the offering plate for your tickets.
