Today’s anthem and organ music was composed by Paul Manz (b. 1919) who has long served the church as recitalist, composer, teacher and leader in worship. He is Cantor Emeritus at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Saint Luke, Chicago, Illinois, and Professor Emeritus of Church Music at Christ Seminary Seminex at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Dr. Manz has appeared with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Orchestra Hall, with the Minnesota Orchestra under the direction of Charles Dutoit, Leonard Slatkin, and Henry Charles Smith.  His musical compositions are internationally known; his choral music is widely used by church and college choirs here and abroad; and his organ works are used extensively in worship services, recitals, and as teaching tools. Manz's most famous anthem, "E'en So, Lord Jesus, Quickly Come" (composed in 1954) is regarded as a classic and has been frequently recorded.

Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group –

This afternoon, the Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group will meet to discuss, Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky.  The group will convene at 4:00 p.m. in the Brown Parlor.  Glennis Lundberg will lead an informal discussion of the book.  All are welcome!
