We invite visitors to sign the Guest Book and join us for refreshments and fellowship after worship. If you are visiting today with children, please join us for Sunday School beginning after Disciple Dialogue with a recessional by the children to our Church House, three doors away. We also have an infant room, with a changing table, crib and comfortable rocker on the lower level. If you need those facilities during worship, an usher will be happy to escort you.

You are welcomed and seated today by Mark Clifton, Eric Erickson, Paul Lawless and Steve Wilson.

The greeter today is Nancy Anderson.

Joys and Concerns:Please inform the pastor or church office if we have missed anyone in our prayers this week.

Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group - The first meeting of the Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group will be on Sunday, October 14, 2007. Our first book is Reading Judas: The Gospel of Judas and the Shaping of Christianity by Elaine Pagels at 4:00 pm in the church house. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend these informal meetings.

Donating chancel flowers is a wonderful way to honor someone special in your life, commemorate a special occasion (perhaps a birthday or anniversary), to say thank you, or to honor the memory of a friend or family member. The chancel flowers sit on the communion table in the chancel. The flowers cost $40. Donations are acknowledged in the Sunday bulletin. For more information contact the church office at 847 864-8332. To donate flowers, a sign-up board is in the narthex.

This morning’s prelude and offertory are musical settings of an ancient Irish poem, “Rob tu mo bhoile, a Comdi cride” dating from around A.D. 700. The text was translated as “Be Thou My Vision” by Mary E. Byrne and included in the journal Erin (vol. 2, 1905). The versification was by Eleanor Hull and included in the Poem Book of the Gael (1912).

A Volunteer Opportunity - Hands-on help for two of our Benevolence Recipients! The Infant Welfare Society and Evanston Day Nursery would both like our help for some fall clean-up and spruce-up activities at their facilities. Bring your energy and enthusiasm to church and we'll carpool over to: Infant Welfare Society from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 6th and Evanston Day Nursery from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday, October 27th. Contact Lyn Page, Benevolence/Outreach Committee, if you'd like to come for just part of the time, or for more information. (847) 475-3943 or lpage@oakton.edu.

Join us next Sunday – Rev. Calvin S. Morris, PhD., Director and CEO of Community Renewal Society will be our guest preacher.
