ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to First Congregational Church! We invite visitors to sign the Guest Book and join us for refreshments and fellowship after worship. If you are visiting today with children, please join us for Sunday School beginning after Disciple Dialogue with a recessional by the children to our Church House, three doors away. We also have an infant room, with a changing table, crib and comfortable rocker on the lower level. If you need those facilities during worship, an usher will be happy to escort you.

You are welcomed and seated today by Tom and Joan Lindsey, Joe Page and Steve Wilson.

The lay reader today is Lyn Page.

The chancel flowers today are given with deep appreciation by Deb Shamlin in honor of our Sunday School teachers.

Come Sing With Us! The Chancel Choir meets for rehearsal at 11:30 this morning in the Church House. No audition is required and all are welcome.

This morning’s service features the music of Martin Shaw (1875 – 1958). Shaw was an influential English church musician, composer, editor, and arranger. His anthem “With a Voice of Singing” has become a classic in the choral repertoire.

Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group - The first meeting of the Sunday Afternoon Book Discussion Group will be on Sunday, October 14, 2007 Reading Judas: The Gospel of Judas and the Shaping of Christianity by Elaine Pagels at 4:00 pm in the church house. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend these informal meetings. For more information, view our Fall Reading List.

Donating chancel flowers is a wonderful way to honor someone special in your life, commemorate a special occasion (perhaps a birthday or anniversary), to say thank you, or to honor the memory of a friend or family member. The chancel flowers sit on the communion table in the chancel. The flowers cost $40. Donations are acknowledged in the Sunday bulletin. For more information or to make a donation, contact the church office at 847 864-8332.

Volunteers needed!! Monday morning 9/10, we need to move all of the children's things from the Treasure Room and Plymouth Hall to the Guild Room.

Immediately after a short worship service on September 30, Rev. Roghair will lead a discussion of the things that give you hope for meeting FCCE goals. Reading Christianity for the Rest of Us or I Refuse to Lead a Dying Church will prepare you to contribute to this discussion. Buy or borrow a copy of this book today.
