ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to First Congregational Church! We invite visitors to sign the Guest Book and join us for refreshments after worship. If you are visiting today with children, they are invited to join us for Sunday School after Disciple Dialogue with a recessional to our Church House, three doors away. We also have an infant room, with a changing table, crib and comfortable rocker on the lower level. If you need those facilities during worship, an usher will be happy to escort you.

The rose in the chancel is a “peace rose.” It symbolizes our prayers for peace in a troubled world.

The chancel flowers are given in memory of Jack Phillips’ 70th birthday (June 11).

The lay reader today is Peggy Tinzmann.

You are welcomed and seated today by Eric Erickson, Joe Page, Sandy Whiteley and Steve Wilson.

Joys and Concerns: Our thoughts are with Will Koestring as he bounces back to being an active little boy and with Robert Grant who is ill at home. Our known homebound members include: Kay Clark, Virginia France, Bud Goff, John Hands, Dixie Hoffman, Esther McGinnis, Irv Newgren, Franklin and Pat Snyder and Nina Stevens. Please inform the pastor or church office if we have missed anyone.

Our anthems today feature the music of John Rutter, who was born in London in 1945. His compositions include choral, orchestral, and instrumental music, and he has co-edited various choral anthologies. From 1975-1979 he was Director of Music at Clare College, Cambridge. In 1981 he formed his own choir, the Cambridge Singers, as a professional choir dedicated to recording. He now divides his time between composition and conducting, and has appeared at concert halls, universities, churches, music festivals, and conferences in Europe, Scandinavia, and North America. He is an honorary Fellow of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, a Fellow of the Guild of Church Musicians, and was awarded a Lambeth Doctorate of Music for his contribution to church music. In terms of performances, he is probably the most successful choral composer of his generation. His Christmas anthem Shepherd's Pipe Carol, a popular favorite here at First Congregational Church and written while he was still an undergraduate, is reported to have sold well over one million copies.

You are invited to join the virtual prayer circle at First Congregational Church. It is a wonderful way to develop a richer prayer life and stay connected to the needs of those in our congregation and around us. An e-mail is sent around weekly or so with a list of people to pray for and a suggested prayer for the week. If you are interested in being part of the church's virtual prayer circle or if you have a prayer concern you would like to offer up, please send a note to joysandconcerns@gmail.com. We want to respect privacy so we ask that you seek a person's permission before offering up their needs for prayer. We look forward to hearing from you! Pam Daniels, Prayer Circle Coordinator.

HUNGER WALK 2007 is Saturday June 16th at Montrose Harbor for a 2 1/2 mile walk along the lakefront followed by refreshments and entertainment. No Vacation Summer School
by Mrs. Shamlin

Summer is almost here and school is over!

The summer for many of you is filled with camp, travel plans and a variety of activities -- fun filled and hectic.

The current enrollment for our Vacation Bible School is less than three families. So, for this summer we are canceling Vacation Bible School.

Mark your calendars now for Rally Day, September 9th for the start of another great, action packed year of Sunday School!
