Welcome to First Congregational Church! We invite visitors to sign the Guest Book and join us for refreshments Fellowship Hall (in the lower level of the building) after worship. If you are visiting today with children, they are invited to join us for Sunday School after Disciple Dialogue with a recessional to our Church House, three doors away. We also have an infant room, with a changing table, crib and comfortable rocker on the lower level. If you need those facilities during worship, an usher will be happy to escort you.

The rose in the chancel is a "peace rose." It sits on the communion table to symbolize our prayers for peace in a troubled world.

The chancel flowers are given in loving memory of Lennah Mansen.

Thank you to Brian Connors for hosting today’s coffee hour.

The lay reader today is Sandy Whiteley.

You are welcomed and seated today by Eric Erickson, Vosse R. Lewis, Joe Page and Steve Wilson.

The Sunday School Lenten Offering for Heifer is due Easter Sunday, April 8. If you need a Lenten bank, please see Deb Shamlim.

A word about today’s music: Louis Vierne (1870 – 1937) was a French organist and composer. He was born nearly blind and showed an early aptitude for music. Vierne composed organ music, chamber music, vocal and choral music, and a symphony for orchestra. He was also considered one of the greatest music improvisers of his generation, although most of his improvisations were never written down. In 1900, Vierne was appointed principal organist at Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. Vierne suffered a stroke while playing his 1750th organ recital at Notre Dame on the evening of June 2, 1937. He had thus fulfilled his often-stated lifelong dream – to die at the console of the great organ of Notre-Dame.

Come Sing With Us! - The Chancel Choir welcomes singers to join them in presenting music from Part II of Handel’s “Messiah” on Palm Sunday, April 1st. The mid-week Lenten study, led by Dr. Roghair, will also focus on this portion of Handel’s “Messiah”. Choir rehearsals will begin today at 11:30 in the Choir Room of the Church House. Come join us!

The Membership Team invites you participate in its work in the following ways: serve on the team (there is currently one open slot); sign up to host a coffee hour or serve as a Sunday greeter; bring us your ideas for fellowship opportunities; assist us in implementing events; work with us to be in contact with members we haven’t seen for a while; make a special effort to talk to someone you don’t know at Sunday services and other church activities; let people know what a wonderful community we have and invite them to be a part of it. We need to hear from you. Please be in touch with the church office or Beth Babbitt Borst, Membership Team Leader, at tomandbethborst@msn.com or 847/864-6959 to let us know how you will participate in this very important work in the life of our church.

Glennis Lundberg will lead the discussion. John Updike’s novels have won many awards including the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. This book is about Ahmad Ashaway, an 18-year-old, who is in the thrall of Shaikh Rashik who runs a store front mosque and preaches divine retribution for “devil.” Everyone is welcome join this informal discussion.

We want to respect privacy so we ask that you seek a person's permission before offering up their needs for prayer. We look forward to hearing from you!

Donating chancel flowers is a wonderful way to honor someone special in your life, commemorate a special occasion (perhaps a birthday or anniversary), to say thank you, or to honor the memory of a friend or family member. The chancel flowers sit on the communion table in the chancel. The arrangement costs $45. Donations are acknowledged in the Sunday bulletin. For more information or to make a donation, contact the church office at 847 864-8332.

READY, SET, GO....SELL PIZZA!!!

This year we will have an all church fundraiser selling Chicago's Legendary Gino's East Deep Dish Pizza! It will be fun and simple. You will be given an order form to take orders and collect the $10.00 per pizza ahead of time. We will be selling the four different pizzas from April 8-22, 2007. The pizza will be delivered to the church on Sunday May 6, 2007 for you to pick up and deliver to your customers.

Prizes will be awarded to the family or individual who sells the most pizza.

Everyone should have a supply of these delicious pizzas in their home freezer for a quick meal or when company stops by.

Let’s make this the best pizza sale ever and make money for our church. This fundraiser will take the place of the Pancake Breakfast. Questions call Barb Lee 847-251-0007.
