ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome to First Congregational Church! We invite visitors to sign the Guest Book and join us for refreshments and fellowship in Fellowship Hall (in the lower level of the building) after worship. We also have an infant room, with a changing table, crib and comfortable rocker on the lower level. If you need those facilities during worship, an usher will be happy to escort you.

We are grateful for 98 pledges which total $241,871 for the ministries and missions of First Congregational Church in 2007. If you have yet to make a pledge and would like a pledge card, please speak to an usher or call the church office. Thank you!

The rose in the chancel is a "peace rose." It sits on the communion table to symbolize our prayers for peace in a troubled world.

The chancel flowers are given in honor of Margaret Cothrine’s birthday on February 7th.

The lay readers today are Brian Connors and Laima Day’s Sunday School class.

You are welcomed and seated today by Barb Fonda, Mike Fonda, Bob Phelps, Joyce Phelps, Nick Tucker and Cherie Weil.

Today’s offertory anthem, prelude, and postlude were composed by Maurice Duruflé (1902 – 1986), a member of the modern French compositional school. All of his music has a basis in Gregorian chant, as he was director of the Gregorian Institute at the Paris Conservatory. Although not very prolific, (he published only 14 pieces), Duruflé’s works are each meticulously written. The result of this perfectionism is that his music, especially his organ music, holds a very high position in the repertoire.
